Letter from the President

Dear Student,

As you embark on your educational journey, let me extend a warm welcome on behalf of Trident Technical College. You are now a part of the best two-year college in South Carolina. More than 11,000 students choose TTC for our innovative, quality education.

These are exciting times at TTC. After taking on the most aggressive expansion and capital campaign in the College’s 42-year history, we opened the Complex for Economic Development on Main Campus in 2005. Housed in 144,000 square feet of the facility are the Culinary Institute of Charleston, the Information Technology Center, the Industrial Maintenance Technology Center and The Learning Center. An additional 57,000 square feet within the Complex are being developed to include a nursing auditorium, industrial electricity lab, and credit and continuing education classrooms. That portion of the Complex will open this year.

The expansion of the Complex, ongoing renovations at our Palmer Campus and innovative offerings at the Berkeley Campus stem from TTC’s anticipation of and response to the work force training needs of individuals and our community. Though our service area consists of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, our impact reaches beyond the Tricounty region to encompass a global community, giving our students the ability to compete and thrive on a worldwide level.

As our world continues to evolve, TTC strives to stay on the edge of emerging trends. However, one ideal remains constant—we are committed to providing opportunity to our students and community. We offer 150+ programs of study in some of the most progressive fields in business; industrial and engineering technology; health care; hospitality, tourism and culinary arts; law-related studies; community, family and child studies; film, media and visual arts; and arts and sciences.

Best wishes for a successful academic year and tenure at TTC. Our goal is to make it a positive, productive experience that will net positive, productive results for your future.

Sincerely,

Mary Thornley, Ed.D.
