Educational Value

22.1 Instructors adhering to all college policies, procedures and guidelines regarding the development and delivery of their course(s)

Quality Standards

22.1.1 When distance learning courses are offered and online components are used, D2L will be the software used for delivery of online content.

22.1.2 Before faculty can offer any online course (i.e., either online or mixed-mode), they must show competency by completing the prescribed D2L and/or mixed-mode training through the Center for Teaching Support.

22.2 Instructors having sufficient technical skills to present their subject matter effectively

Quality Standards

22.2.1 Training for the online and mixed-mode course development will include intermediate and advanced technical skills.

22.2.2 The Center for Teaching Support will provide a list of technical competencies instructors will need to demonstrate before they offer an online or mixed-mode course.

22.3 Instructors following college policies and procedures regarding security and use of all technical assets

Quality Standards

22.3.1 Instructors will read, understand and comply with college policies and procedures regarding the use of computer resources as detailed in: http://www.tridenttech.edu/ttcpolicies/Section3/section3index.htm

22.3.2 Instructors will secure their office computers by (1) logging off, (2) locking their computer and/or (2) locking their office door when they are not occupying their office during work hours. At the end of the day, all instructors will log off their computers and turn their computers completely off.

22.3.3 Instructors will not download programs or information that may result in lowering the efficiency of their computer or cause it to fail to function. If this situation does occur, instructors will contact the Department of Information Technology Services Help Desk immediately and report any problem with the operation of their office computers.

22.3.4 It is the instructors’ responsibility to immediately contact the Department of Information Technology Services if they experience any problem with their office computer.

Educational Value

22.4 Instructors participating in a peer-learning environment by periodically offering information, aide and resources to other instructors

Quality Standards

22.4.1 Instructors will provide peer advice and share information resources with other instructors who are teaching online or mixed-mode courses.

22.4.2 Instructors who have limited online and mixed-mode resources within their division will contact the Center for Teaching Support for information and/or assistance.
