Educational Value

18.1 The life-long learning of instructors

Quality Standards

18.1.1 Instructors will engage in structured and unstructured professional development activities that continuously add to their wealth of knowledge about their course content.

18.1.2 Instructors will share with students examples regarding their own behaviors that help them “stay current” with their course content, such as reading a magazine while waiting on an appointment, listening to the radio, visiting a museum, interacting with industry professionals, discussing issues, performing experiments, etc.

18.1.3 Instructors will communicate that learning does not end at the termination of an academic degree. The course content expertise of the instructor is dynamic, and continuation of learning is imperative or one will become obsolete as a content expert.

18.2 Instructors having an interest in the cognitive, affective, psychomotor and social growth of their students and encouraging it

Quality Standards

18.2.1 Instructors will teach to the domains (cognitive, affective, psychomotor and social) of learning that are appropriate to the specific course content.

18.2.2 Instructors will communicate to students their desire to help them learn the course content that is presented through multi-dimensions of learning.
