9.2.1 Instructors will use their creative and intellectual efforts to present materials to students in effective ways. (See 6.2.x)
9.2.2 Instructors will establish a professional development plan to explore (1) teaching techniques and (2) topics within their content areas. |

9.3 Instructors associating content being learned with real-world issues and skills |
| Quality Standards |
9.3.1 Instructors will build within the design of their course a variety of “real-world” applications of that course content. Applications should relate directly to the demographics, traits and career aspirations of students.
9.3.2 Applications of content to real-world issues will be (1) directly linked to the content, (2) associated with current events, and (3) given broad perspective, especially if the issue involves opposing viewpoints of controversial content.
9.3.3 Applications of content to real-world issues must have obvious relevance. Instructors will not use their position to promote personal views on real-world applications that have no relevance to the subject content.
9.3.4 Instructors will provide opportunities for the development of critical thinking/problem-solving and communications skills. | |
