Educational Value	7.1 Communication between learner and instructor and content that is clear, concise and, where possible, in writing
Quality Standards	7.1.1 Instructors will seek feedback regarding one-way communications (i.e., Instructor-to-Student: I2S) to determine whether the communication was understood. Such phrases as "Did I answer your question," "Tell me if my response is not clear," or "Tell me what you think about what was just said or posted" can be used to determine the effectiveness of I2S communication. 7.1.2 Instructors will (1) understand what a student is asking or stating before responding, (2) narrow their responses to address the student's question or statement in as few words as necessary, and (3) follow standard 7.1.1 above as a guide. 7.1.3 When communications are complicated or extensive, instructors will provide students with an online document in a “printable electronic format.” 7.1.4 When there are recurring questions, instructor will develop a page of "frequently asked questions (FAQ)" for the online or mixed-mode course.
Educational Value	7.2 The instructor organizing the course in a logical format that minimizes student confusion
Quality Standards	7.2.1 Instructors will provide information to students in a logical format and assess its clarity to students. 7.2.2 Instructors will use active learning to present information to students, such as by asking students to engage in activities the instructor has orchestrated (e.g., reading assignment) or provided (e.g., mini-lecture, written, spoken or web) and assessing whether the information has been processed. The instructor should emphasize the need for students to “stay on task” and minimize passive learning environments.
Educational Value	7.3 The instructor clearly describing the assignments that will comprise the summative final grade
Quality Standards	7.3.1 From the beginning of the course, students will know and have access to information that clearly tells them how their final grade will be compiled. 7.3.2 Instructors will provide students with information or access to information about their progress in the course in a timely manner.
