Established in 2008 by the BP Cooper River Plant, the Fund assists students enrolled in either the associate degree program for Occupational Technology-Industrial Maintenance Mechanic career path (preference for Machine Tool Technology secondary path) or the associate degree program for Occupational Technology-Electrician: Automation and Industrial career path.
Eligibility Criteria: To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant:
1) must be a new student (dual credit students eligible);
2) must be a Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester county resident;
3) must be enrolled in the associate degree program for Occupational Technology-Industrial Maintenance Mechanic career path (preference for Machine Tool Technology secondary path) or the associate degree program for Occupational Technology-Electrician: Automation and Industrial career path;
4) must enroll in and maintain at least 12 credit hours; and
5) must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.
Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (determined from completed FAFSA form).
Award amount/use: Award of up to $800 ($400 for fall semester/$400 for spring semester) for tuition, books, required course materials and equipment. The two recipients of the BP Industrial Technology Scholarship with the highest GPAs (must be 3.0 or greater) will be eligible for a one-time renewal of the scholarship for the next academic year.
