The Fund was established to recognize and assist motivated students enrolled in an associate degree or certificate program who, because of family and job-related responsibilities, may not otherwise have the opportunity to complete their educational goals. Recipients in good standing will be eligible to apply for internships at Gene Reed Toyota or Lexus of Charleston.

Eligibility Criteria: To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant:

1)      must be a new, returning or continuing student;

2)      must be a Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester county resident;

3)      must be enrolled in an associate degree or certificate program (preference given to automotive, business and information technology programs);

4)      must enroll in and maintain at least six credit hours; and

5)      must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.

Essay Requirement:  Applicants are required to provide a brief essay describing the applicant's career plan and how this scholarship would affect that plan.  The essay should also allude to how the applicant hopes to make a difference in our community.  Instructions for submitting the essay will be provided during the application process.

Award amount/use:  Award of up to $1,250 ($625 for fall semester/$625 for spring semester) for tuition, books, required course materials and equipment. The award is renewable for two to four years (based on part-time or full-time enrollment status) as long as the recipient continues to meet all eligibility criteria.
