W. Athell Yon Endowed Automotive Scholarship

Established in 1993 in memory of W. Athell Yon, in recognition of his outstanding professional contributions to the automotive industry, TTC and the community. A member of TTC's governing board, the College's Automotive Technology Advisory Committee and the Area Commission, he organized the Independent Garage Owners of South Carolina, worked with the American Association of Motor Administrators and was named to the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

Student Eligibility: New, returning or continuing students are eligible to apply.

To qualify: Pursuing an Automotive Technology associate degree or Automotive Servicing certificate. New students must be high school graduates or equivalent, and returning students must have attended TTC or any accredited college and completed a minimum of six semester credit hours with a 2.5 or higher GPA. Must enroll in and maintain a minimum of six semester credit hours with a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA in AUT-prefix courses. To remain eligible, criteria must be met each semester.

Award amount/use: Up to $500 for Fall and Spring semesters for full-time students and up to $250 for Fall and Spring for part-time students. Maximum total award for full-time students is $2,000 over two years. Maximum total award for part-time students is $2,000 over four years. Recipient must continue to qualify each semester.
