Online & Mixed Mode Faculty: Training Skills for Development

The following training skills are necessary for developing an online or mixed mode course and are ranked based on their technical skill level. (Italicized items are optional.)

Skills marked with ITTC may be obtained at the Information Technology Training Center. Please contact the ITTC Director for details. Skills marked with CTS may be obtained at the Center for Teaching Support. Please contact the CTS Director for details.

 

Basic Skills

  • Perform basic functions of the Windows operating system - ITTC
  • Perform basic functions of the Windows file - ITTC management system.
  • Perform basic functions of an Internet browser application (i.e., Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) – ITTC
  • Develop student learning outcomes - CTS
  • Understand student learning styles - CTS
  • Understand instructor teaching style - CTS
  • Obtain copyright clearances - CTS

Intermediate Skills

  • Generate, save, and revise a Word file - ITTC
  • Generate, save, and revise a Rich Text file - ITTC

  • Scan and save an image file – ITTC
  • Develop course modules - CTS
  • Implement active and collaborative learning - CTS

Advanced Skills
