TTC Counseling Services provides a wide range of individual and/or group-based services for students with disabilities. These services are available from our Counseling and Career Development office on Main Campus and from the Student Success Centers on the Palmer and Berkeley Campuses.

  • We approach each request for accommodation on a case-by-case basis
  • TTC faculty and staff will provide individual accommodation(s) only after notification from our counseling staff.
  • Students must able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to meet any essential functions or standards for coursework and/or program of study.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to contact TTC Counseling Services to confirm enrollment and the need for accommodation each academic semester.

To be eligible for accommodation(s), you must provide current documentation from a professional qualified to assess the presence of a disability. This documentation may be provided using the Documentation for Accommodations Request Form.

We are committed to meeting both the spirit and the letter of applicable portions of Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act and the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act. We work closely with our faculty and staff and with a number of local, state, and national agencies to serve qualified students. More information can be found in the Handbook for Students with Disabilities.

How is the provision of disabilities services in college different from high school?
Both Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act and the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act apply to both K-12 and post-secondary education, but they do so in different ways.

    • K-12 services: The state of South Carolina mandates K-12 attendance to a certain age.
K-12 services focus on the minor status (under age 18) of students and the mandatory nature of their participation in education. By law, parents and/or guardians are intimately involved in individual educational planning activities.
    • Post-secondary education services: College attendance is voluntary and optional. In college, the focus shifts to the student as the client in an adult learning environment.
