If I do qualify, what kinds of accommodations are available?

Our most commonly provided accommodations include lower distraction testing areas, extended test time, and volunteer note takers.  In a typical semester we will also have anywhere from one to three students with hearing impairments for whom we are providing sign interpretation or wireless FM amplification.  However, since we handle each individual on a case-by-case basis, we provide reasonable accommodations that are supported by current, appropriate documentation and by the student’s articulation of how his/her disability affects his/her ability to learn in an adult, collegiate learning environment.

In appropriate cases, we work with other agencies such as the SC Department of Vocational Rehabilitation or the SC Commission for the Blind to provide services or assistive technology.  In some cases, we may also make arrangements for a student to use his/her own personal equipment as an accommodation.
