BASED ON POLICY NUMBER AND TITLE
12-2-0 SECURITY OF INSTITUTIONAL BUILDINGS & EQUIPMENT POLICY

Purpose:  To define TTC's process for securing laboratories, clinics, classrooms, and offices.

Sensitive and highly valuable equipment and materials are generally stored inside campus laboratories (Computer, Physical Science, Allied Health, Nursing, Cosmetology, etc.) and clinics (Dental, Massage Therapy, etc.).  Only authorized faculty, staff, and work study students in the performance of their duties may have access to these areas and/or be issued keys.  The appropriate dean or director should give authorization for access, and public safety should be notified of the authorization.  The doors to these areas must remain closed and locked when not in use.

Master classrooms, multimedia rooms, or other classrooms having door locks must remain closed and locked when not in use.  Students are not permitted to have access without an authorized faculty or staff member present.

Faculty and staff are responsible for the security of their offices.  When offices are unoccupied, even for a short duration, employees should lock and shut doors in order to maintain security of sensitive academic material, records, and personal items.

Faculty and staff are required to report any breach of security, damage to property or equipment, or theft to Public Safety immediately.
