16-10-1 Graduation, Application & Verification

PURPOSE:  To outline the process for applying, verifying, and awarding Trident Technical College degrees.

  1. NOTICE
    During each semester the Registrar will post notices stating the deadline for the receipt of completed graduations applications.

  2. ADMINISTRATIVE DEGREE AUDIT
    The Registrar's office will furnish the academic departments with a list of potential graduates each semester. The academic program advisor reviews the student's academic record and forwards degree audit and course substitution forms to the Registrar's office for further processing.

    1. For Graduation Audits prior to 2002 review:  upon receiving a graduation audit form and program tracking sheet, the Registrar (or Registrar's designee) reviews the student's academic record to verify satisfactory completion of requirements for the final semester.  If approved, the Registrar's office records the semester of graduation and the grade point average on the graduation audit form.  If not approved, the Registrar's office notifies the student by mail to contact their academic advisor regarding discrepancies.

    2. For Graduation Audits 2002 to present review:  upon receiving an electronic graduation Audit, the Registrar (or Registrar's designee) reviews the student's academic record to verify satisfactory completion of requirements for the final semester.  If approved, the Registrar's office records the semester of graduation and the grade point average on the graduation audit form.  If not approved, the Registrar's office notifies the student by mail to contact their academic advisor regarding program

  3. GRADUATION CEREMONY
    TTC will conduct one graduation ceremony each year, following the completion of the spring semester. Students expecting to complete their course work by the end of the Summer term may participate in the spring graduation. Awarding of the degree or diploma will not take place until all requirements, including course work, are completed. Each student who plans to participate in the graduation ceremony must complete a Graduation Application in the Registrar's office.

  4. RECORDS RETENTION
    The Registrar's office maintains the Administrative Degree Audit form, program tracking sheet, and Graduation Application in accordance with the General Records Retention Schedule for the state of South Carolina.
