OTA Frequently Asked Questions

1. When does the professional portion (OTA classes) of the program begin?

A new class is admitted each summer.

2. What will be my daily schedule as an OTA student?

Classes meet Monday through Friday from approximately 8:00AM to 3:00PM; there will be occasional times you meet outside of these hours and students must have some flexibility to accommodate to variability in the schedule.

3. Where do I do my observation hours?

Observation hours may be completed in a variety of settings such as hospitals, home health agencies, outpatient settings and the public school system. Contact your advisor for additional information.

4. Can I count hours employed in an occupational therapy department toward the observation hours?

If the OTR or COTA with whom you worked is agreeable to completing the observation form, you may count 20 of these hours toward the requirement.

5. Will credits from another college transfer to TTC to meet the general education requirement for program admission?

To transfer credits to TTC, you must either contact the admissions office at the previously attended institution and have a transcript sent to the TTC admission office or complete a request for such in the TTC admission office. Upon receipt, the transcript will be reviewed by TTC faculty/admission personnel to determine the equivalency of transfer credits.

6. From how long ago will general education credits be considered acceptable for meeting admission requirements?

There is no time limit for the acceptance of general education requirements with the exception of Biology 210/Biology 211 which must have been completed within the past five years.
