What is an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic?

An Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is a person who repairs and maintains commercial or industrial machinery in buildings, or in a plant or factory setting.

What are some of the job duties of an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic?

Many industrial mechanics are skilled in vibration analysis, electrical troubleshooting, drive system repair and hydraulic/pneumatic system troubleshooting and repair. Some general maintenance mechanics troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, electrical control systems and complete preventive maintenance on many types of machinery.

What is the occupational outlook for Industrial Maintenance Mechanics?

Currently, Industrial Mechanics hold about 535,000 jobs in plants, factories, mills, utilities, etc. General maintenance mechanics hold 1.2 million jobs in hotels, manufacturing plants, hospitals, and government agencies just to name a few.

What does Trident’s Industrial Maintenance Mechanics program offer?

Trident Technical College offers two certificates under the Industrial Maintenance Mechanics Program. The Industrial Mechanics certificate offers instruction primarily in mechanical skills along with electrical training for machinery repair technicians. The Industrial Maintenance is a certificate that offers training in HVAC/R, electrical, and mechanical skills and is designed for the general maintenance technician.
