BETH THOMAS, RHIT

Ms. Beth Thomas is the Medical Record Coder Program Coordinator for the academic Coding Certificate Program in the Division of Allied Health Sciences.  She is a graduate of the Health Information/Medical Record Technology Program at Rend Lake College with an Associate Degree in Health Information Management.  She has over 20 years experience in HIM with her focus exclusively on Coding.  Work experience includes Inpatient and Outpatient Coder in rural and urban acute care hospitals, Coding Manager in a multi-hospital system, DRG Coordinator in a 1000-bed acute care hospital.  She is a member of the American Health Information Management Association.  In addition to teaching, she is actively working in the field of Medical Record Coding as the Coding Manager in a rural South Carolina 293 bed acute care hospital.
