Soil management is a vital component of plant management.  Without healthy roots in the soil, there cannot be healthy foliage.  Soils is the study of management practices that optimize plant growth.  In addition, students learn chemistry and physical structure that make soils work, such as fertility, water availability, soil pH, and pore space.
