What is Student Support Services?
What Are TRIO Programs?
- Programs designed to help students overcome traditional barriers (class, social and cultural) to higher education
- ln addition to SSS, Trident Technical College houses three other TRIO programs: Upward Bound Math/Science, Education Talent Search, and Educational Opportunity Center
Eligibility Requirements
- Enrollment at Trident Technical College
- An academic need
Meet one or more of the following criteria:
- First–generation college student (neither parent/guardian received a baccalaureate degree)
- Meet certain income guidelines
- Diagnosed and documented disability
Program Services
- Counseling (academic and personal)
- Financial Aid Information
- Help in selecting a program of study
- Help in transferring to another college
- Mid-term progress reviews
- Tours of four-year colleges
- Tutoring
- Workshops on study skills, time management, self-esteem and other topics
- Cultural Activities
- Book and Equipment Loans
- Grant Aid
Participant Responsibilities
- If transferring, meet with the SSS transfer counselor on a regular basis
- If a student with a disability, provide documentation of disability
- Abide by the terms of the tutoring services contract
- Return any books by the last day of each semester
- Provide the SSS program with a permanent address prior to leaving TTC
- Authorize SSS to request academic information and to discuss issues relative to your academic and personal success with campus and community resources throughout program enrollment
