If your declared major is undecided, a college counselor will serve as your academic advisor. Having a declared major of undecided means that you have not chosen an academic program; you are not sure whether you want to earn a certificate, diploma, two-year degree or four-year degree; or you may not have chosen a career field. Your counselor will advise you regarding courses to take while you are undecided and will help you decide. Please see the list of advisors for undecided students. Note that you can select the campus most convenient for you. Once you decide on a major, you will be referred to an Orientation Center and assigned an academic advisor for each course of study.

If you have declared a major (any certificate, diploma, or degree program) but, for whatever reason, remain uncertain about some of your academic, career, and/or college goals, you should do two things. First, contact an Orientation Center for assignment to an appropriate faculty academic advisor for the course of study that you have initially identified as your major (you are not considered undecided as far as our advising services are concerned). Second, contact Counseling and Career Development Services at one of the following offices for assistance in becoming more certain of your academic, career, and/or college goals.

Main Campus, Student Center
Building 410, Room 210
843.574.6131

Berkeley Campus, Student Success Center
Room 178
843.899.8079

Palmer Campus, Student Success Center
Room 226
843.722.5516

IF YOU ARE NOT SEEKING A DEGREE
Students who are not seeking a certificate, diploma, or a degree are not assigned to an advisor, though you may see on if you wish. As a nondegree student, you may register in the Orientation Center or Admissions offices on any campus during the regular registration period. For most courses, you do not need an advisor's signature. However, many courses have prerequisites or skill requirements. To register for one of these courses, you must get departmental approval if your TTC records do not show that you have met the prerequisites or skill requirements. You may be asked to provide evidence of prerequisites or skill requirements such as transcripts, grade reports or test scores. See Admissions Requirements for more information.

If you have identified yourself as "nondegree-seeking" but would like to explore your academic or career goals, please contact Counseling and Career Development Services at one of the following locations:

Main Campus, Student Center
Building 410, Room 210
843.574.6131

Berkeley Campus, Student Success Center
Room 178
843.899.8079

Palmer Campus, Student Success Center
Room 226
843.722.5516

Nondegree-seeking students do not qualify for financial aid or veterans asssistance. Transient students are declared nondegree-seeking and are not eligible for financial aid assistance.
