Financial Aid/Veterans > FAFSA
Description

In order to receive student financial aid, you need to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every school year.

You may use FAFSA on the Web to complete and submit your financial aid application electronically via the Internet.

First Time Applicants

  • If this is the first time you have ever applied for federal student aid, select FAFSA or Spanish FAFSA to begin the application process.
  • You will have to sign your FAFSA before we can process the application.
  • You may sign your application electronically by requesting a PIN at the PIN Site and using it.
  • A PIN is not required to fill out and submit a FAFSA, but using a PIN is the fastest way to sign your application.
  • If you would rather sign by paper, a PIN will still be sent to you for future convenience once your application is processed. The same PIN can then be used to access and sign your Renewal FAFSA application next school year.
  • If you are a dependent student, your parent will also have to sign. Only one parent needs to sign the application.
  • Your parent(s) may apply for a PIN at the PIN site in order to electronically sign your application, or they can sign a paper signature page. Parents can use the same PIN to sign the application of multiple children from one year to the next.

Returning FAFSA Applicants

  • If you are a returning applicant and have a PIN, you can use it to access your Renewal FAFSA application by selecting Fill Out a Renewal FAFSA from the left navigation bar.
  • A PIN is not required to fill out and submit a regular FAFSA on the Web application, just select FAFSA or Spanish FAFSA to begin the application process.

If you are applying for a summer session you should check with your school to verify which year application you would need to complete.

Information for Families Affected by Current Economic Uncertainties

The recent downturn in the U.S. economy has likely presented you with unanticipated questions and possibly with unexpected financial challenges.  If you have concerns about financial assistance for the balance of the current academic year or for 2009-10, you may be assured that the College’s Financial Aid/Veterans Assistance office is working diligently to avoid any interruption to the availability and flow of financial aid. We will continue to do our best to provide excellent information, assistance, and service.  Families whose financial situations have changed dramatically since filing their FAFSA earlier this year may now be eligible for resources for which they didn’t qualify based on earlier application information. Contact our office about these dramatic changes.
