Alumnus Kelli Roberson, sixth grade language arts and social studies teacher at College Park Middle School, has been named the Berkeley County School District’s 2010 Teacher of the Year.
Roberson says, "I owe so much to TTC – the demanding coursework, the high-quality instructors and career guidance provided me with the necessary skills to be competitive and have the confidence to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher."
"I feel like I grew up at TTC," Roberson says. And she practically did. During her time at the college, Roberson was employed by the Division of Academic Affairs as the co-coordinator for Quest under the direction of Dr. Linda Ziegler. While working and taking care of her two young children, Roberson enjoyed the flexibility of gradually taking classes toward her degree. She received her associate in arts degree in 1999; she received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in December of 2000. Following graduation, a teaching position at College Park Middle School opened, and Roberson embraced the opportunity.
Today Roberson is in her tenth year of teaching at College Park Middle School and holds one of the most coveted titles a teacher could ever hope for as Teacher of the Year. The TTC Foundation and Alumni Association congratulate Roberson on her accomplishments and celebrate her success as an outstanding educator.
