World of Greed
Now everybody knows that everybody’s sinned,
And when it’s real bad you drown it in gin,
But we all keep thinking of the pearly gates
And of living in the after’s luscious grace.
But let me tell you something I think you need:
There’s nobody clean in this world of greed.
Oh, they’ll tell you true, “Well, I like you, too!”
But when your business is through, your just a tool.
And as the shadows creep in your family will say,
“How did it go with that nice man from today?”
You wait a second, then my advice you heed:
“There’s nobody clean in this world of greed.”
Pretty soon your days are grey, they call you a cynic.
But that isn’t it, you just know it’s not too hygienic
To go wallowing around in the filth of the age,
Living your life as a slave to your Wage.
When from the unseen shackles you’re freed,
Don’t run off alone, instead try to help lead.
Because we could all use help in this world of greed.
