TTC provides quality education and workforce training that supports the regional economy.
The College offers associate degrees, certificates and diplomas in more than 150 programs of study organized under eleven Academic Divisions:
- Aeronautical Studies
- Allied Health Sciences
- Business Technology
- Community, Family and Child Studies
- Culinary Institute of Charleston (Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts)
- Film, Media and Visual Arts
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Industrial and Engineering Technology
- Law-Related Studies
- Nursing
- Science and Mathematics
85 percent of full-time faculty have a masters or doctoral degree in their field of teaching.
The College’s Division of Continuing Education teaches over 520,000 contact hours annually for non-credit courses in both customized, company-sponsored training and professional development programs open to the public.

TTC is state assisted, not state supported.
The portion of the College’s annual operating revenues funded from the State declined from 50.5% in fiscal year 1998 to 17.6% in fiscal year 2010. TTC's fall enrollment increased from 9,106 to 14,834 students during this same period.
Funding levels and sources for the College include:
- 56.3 percent from tuition and fees
- 17.6 percent from the state of South Carolina
- 14.3 percent from auxiliary services and other sources
- 11.8 percent from Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties

TTC serves over 14,000 students on three campuses located in North Charleston, downtown Charleston and Moncks Corner.
The average age of the student is 27, and many students balance their pursuit of higher education with family and job responsibilities:
