NOTE: STUDENTS ADMITTED FOR FALL 2008 AND SPRING 2009 MAY ENROLL IN HEALTH CALCULATIONS (AHS 126) DURING THE SUMMER 2008 TERM.

DOSAGE PROFICIENCY TEST FAQ SHEET

Q.  Is it necessary for all students to register for the AHS 126/129 courses? 

A.  It is mandatory that you register for AHS 126/129. The initial test to determine whether or not you need to continue in these courses will be adminstered on the first class day. This test is mandatory. Students who do not take this test and answer the questions on the first day of class must withdraw from the course and wait until the next time the course is offered. Those students in AHS 126 who make 95% or above may drop AHS 126 during the drop/add period. Those students in AHS 129 who make 100% may drop during the drop/add period.

Q.  What is the passing score on each test? 

A.  The passing score on the PN test (AHS 126) is 95%.  The passing score on the ADN test (AHS 129) is 100%.

Q.  How can I study for the Dosage Proficiency Tests?

A.  The ADN and PN Dosage Proficiency Study Guides and the textbook, Calculate with Confidence, by Deborah Gray Morris, should be used to study for the dosage proficiency tests.  The ADN and PN Dosage Proficiency Study Guides are accessible using the links at the bottom of this page, and the textbook Calculate with Confidence (4th Edition) is available at the TTC bookstore.

Q.  Can I use a calculator during the dosage proficiency test? 

A.  The calculator that is approved for the dosage proficiency test is the Texas Instruments TI-1706 SV or TI-307+.  This calculator is available in the TTC bookstore and is the only one that can be used during the dosage proficiency test.

Q.  What if I have been approved for accommodations?

A.  If you have been approved for accommodations you need to have these in place prior to the first day of class.

 


DOSAGE  PROFICIENCY  EXAMS

All students must successfully complete the PN dosage proficiency exam with a grade equal to or greater than 95 in order to progress to the PN level of the Nursing Program. If this grade is not achieved, successful completion of AHS 126 is required.

All students must successfully complete the ADN dosage proficiency exam with a grade equal to or greater than 100 in order to progress to the ADN level of the Nursing Program. If this grade is not achieved, successful completion of AHS 129 is required.
