Technology Requirements
Each new PN and ADN student must purchase Nursing Central software. This software contains valuable clinical references that will allow students to access information immediately with a handheld device in the clinical setting (i.e. medications, labs, or diagnoses). This software bundle contains several books and references that will be utilized in the clinical setting and as reference material for the classroom content. The student may purchase the Nursing Central software at the bookstore or on the company website.
Each student is also required to have a device to support Nursing Central software. This may be a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) or a Smartphone. The Nursing Central reference bundle is compatible with most handheld devices listed on the website including Blackberry, iPhone/iPod Touch and Treo. The student must refer to the website to obtain information regarding the minimum qualifications needed to support the Nursing Central software. Students will purchase their own device after reviewing the minimum requirements listed on the Nursing Central webpage at:

-- Instructions for downloading Nursing Central software are also detailed at this website.
-- Both the PDA component and Nursing Central software should qualify for financial reimbursement if the student receives financial assistance.
-- Nursing Central software should not be installed/ downloaded to any Trident Technical College campus computer.
-- Once the Nursing Central software is downloaded to a device, the software cannot be transferred to another computer, Smartphone or PDA, resold, exchanged or returned.
-- Smartphone use in the clinical/classroom setting is limited to use as a PDA only. Phone and text function must be turned off or silenced.
-- The misuse of Smartphone/cell phones in the clinical setting may result in disciplinary action.
