Effective Sunday, June 24, CARTA buses will be making two stops on TTC’s Main Campus. The two new stops are replacing Route 10’s southbound stop on Rivers Avenue where students must cross several lanes of traffic to access the campus. The northbound route headed toward Summerville will not change.
The two stops on Main Campus will include a location behind Bldg. 410 near the retention pond and the lot used for motorcycle training adjacent to Bldg. 920. Buses will enter the campus via Mabeline Road then wind their way around Stokes Avenue then left onto Rivers headed toward downtown Charleston. (See map.) Temporary shelters will be installed until permanent ones can be constructed.
“By creating a safer, more convenient route for students, we are hoping to encourage increased ridership that will, in turn, reduce energy usage associated with commuting,” says Bob Walker, chair of the TTC Green Steering Committee and vice present of TTC’s Continuing Education and Economic Development division.
