Six of TTC’s civil engineering technology students competed in the American Society of Civil Engineers 2010 Carolinas Conference held at Duke University. Students at this conference compete in a range of civil engineering activities including construction management, surveying, balsa wood bridge design, steel bridge construction, concrete canoe design and building, an environmental competition, and an earthquake challenge. TTC placed second in the balsa wood bridge competition and third in the surveying competition. Students on TTC’s team were Christopher Elmer, Sam Cooper, Hank Dennis, Tyler Ware, Brent Jackson and Crystal Hege. The TTC advisor is Tom Kennedy.
Other colleges with participating students included The Citadel, Duke University, Clemson University, University of South Carolina, Georgia Tech, NC State, NC A&T and UNC Charlotte.
