August 19, 2009... Channel your inner designer with continuing education courses at Trident Technical College. Floral design and interior design courses begin in September.

Floral Design I covers the fundamentals of flower arranging, including an introduction to materials and equipment, the care and identification of fresh flowers and their appropriate uses, and principles of design and color. This course is offered 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 1-Oct. 20 (location to be determined – see www.tridenttech.edu/ce.htm for updates). Floral Design II covers current styles of design such as high style, line, form and pavé as well as permanents and accessories. It is offered 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 15-Nov. 13. This course is held at Tiger Lily Florist in downtown Charleston. Cost is $159 per course. Create beautiful holiday arrangements for Thanksgiving and Christmas in Holiday Design. Courses are offered 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Oct. 26-Nov. 16, and on Tuesdays, Oct. 27-Nov. 17, at Tiger Lily Florist. Holiday Design is also offered on Thursdays, Oct. 29-Nov. 19, at Charleston Florist in downtown Charleston. Cost is $99.

Learn the basic rules for color, wallpapering, furniture arranging, accessorizing and lighting in Interior Design I. It is offered 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 13-Nov. 5. Cost is $159. AutoCAD for the Designer covers drafting floor plans on the computer. It meets 6:30-9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. 2-Dec. 7. Cost is $179. Learn how to read blueprints, use an architect’s scale and draft floor plans and elevations by hand in Drafting I. This course is offered 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Oct. 5-28. Cost is $259. Getting into the Business provides information about state and federal paperwork you will need to file, as well as how to run an interior design business on a daily basis. It meets 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 10-Dec. 10. Cost is $109. Interior design courses are held at TTC’s Main Campus in North Charleston.
