August 11, 2009... Trident Technical College has partnered with Stenowave, a nationally-known online court reporter school, to offer a more affordable and faster way to becoming a court reporter. Courses begin Sept. 1.

Students take TTC's Pre-Court Reporter Certificate Program, which includes online courses in medical and legal terminology, grammar and punctuation, and court procedures. They then take theory and speedbuilding courses from Stenowave to round out their court reporting education.

Court reporting is a financially rewarding profession with many career options and a salary range of $40,000 to $100,000 per year. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job prospects are expected to be excellent as job openings continue to outnumber job seekers. "Learning to be a court reporter was once a long and tedious process and very expensive, too," says Regina Lane, TTC program leader. "This option allows greater flexibility with online courses, allowing students to finish quicker with fewer costs incurred."
