Seven students proved they have the right stuff at Trident’s Got Talent, a talent show for students, faculty and staff sponsored by TTC’s Black History Committee. Justin Miles, a student in the Emergency Medical Technology program, won first place. He sang “This is My Now.” Miles received a trophy and a $250 college bookstore gift certificate. Nefertiti Brown, an Associate in Arts student, won second place for a dramatic poetry reading. She received a trophy and a $100 bookstore gift certificate. Marshawn Bryan, a student in the Radio/Television Broadcasting program, won third place. His talent, rapping, earned him a trophy and a $50 gift certificate.
Octavia Mitchell, Channel 2 anchor and reporter, hosted the event. Business Technology instructor Daryl Milligan, Information Systems instructor Tom Brady and First-Year Experience counselor Tonya Small served as judges. TTC staff member Jariette Mace sang two selections to warm up the crowd and allow the judges time to choose the top three contestants. The Black History Committee collected canned goods at the event for Crisis Ministries.
