Trident Technical College is a local host for College Goal Sunday, a nationwide effort to help high school students learn more about college financial aid opportunities. Although the event is called “College Goal Sunday,” TTC’s event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Main Campus (7000 Rivers Ave., North Charleston) in the Complex for Economic Development (Bldg. 920, Room 791).
Many students believe that college is not an option for them, but in most cases, funds are available and aid is based on need more than grades. College Goal Sunday, a day-long event, was created to help these students and their families learn about available options and how to qualify and apply for college financial aid such as grants, loans, scholarships, work-study and other forms of assistance.
This event is for high school seniors, graduates and parents who need information about financial aid. Experts will be on hand to help attendees with their financial aid applications. Attendees should bring the student’s and parent’s 2008 state and federal tax returns, Social Security number, driver’s license, verification of any untaxed income and alien registration number (for eligible noncitizens).
