The community is invited to join Trident Technical College’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society in honoring a fallen hero by participating in the first annual Matthew J. Taylor Scholarship Ride to be held Nov. 15. Staff Sgt. Matthew J. Taylor, a Summerville native, was killed by small-arms fire Sept. 20 while on patrol in Iraq. All proceeds from this event will go to fund student scholarships at TTC.
The motorcycle ride will begin at noon on Nov. 15 at Nightmare’s Custom Cycles, 115 East Main St., Harleyville. The cost for participation is $10 for a rider, $5 for a passenger and $3 for family support.
The event will also offer family activities including live music from Mystic, free food and beverages, face painting, a jump castle, door prizes, and a 50/50 drawing.
