Train for one of the hottest jobs in the nation with Trident Technical College’s Personal Trainer Certification course. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs for fitness workers are expected to increase much faster than the average for all occupations. TTC’s Personal Trainer Certification course provides students with the necessary skills to begin a career in fitness.

Offered by the Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development in conjunction with World Instructor Training School (W.I.T.S.), this five-week course covers anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition and health screening. Hands-on practical training at Pivotal Fitness Center prepares students to work with clients one-on-one. Class dates are June 29-Dec. 9, Sept. 6-Oct. 11 and Nov. 1-Dec. 13.  Classes are held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. Cost is $549, which does not include books and lab fees.

Students are eligible to take the national certification exam after completing the course.  W.I.T.S. is a nationally recognized certifying body for aerobics instructors and personal trainers.

Because people are spending more time and money on fitness, there is an increased demand for personal trainers. Also, more businesses are recognizing the benefits of health and fitness programs for their employees. Personal trainers work in health clubs, fitness centers and other recreational and amusement settings. About eight percent are self-employed.
