High school step teams will compete in the Second Annual Step Show 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Complex for Economic Development/College Center (Bldg. 920) on Trident Technical College’s Main Campus, 7000 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door.

Teams from Stratford High School, Stall High School, Fort Dorchester High School, James Island Charter High School, Academic Magnet High School, Woodland High School, Baptist Hill High School and Cross High School are scheduled to compete. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place.

The Step Show is held in honor of Black History Month. Stepping is a tradition that stems from African dance rituals. Dancers use footsteps and hand claps to produce high-energy, complex rhythms.
