Trident Technical College’s Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development Coding Specialist Program can be completed totally online. The student can complete the online program in the convenience of their home.
The online (internet) program was developed for the student who desires to enter the field of medical coding, however, requires a flexible schedule for learning. All internet-based courses have specific objectives for learning and instructors are available to ask questions when a topic is unclear. Students ask instructors the questions via e-mail, chat room sessions and bulletin board discussions. Each online course has a start and end date, and each instructor sets specific deadlines for assignments, quizzes, midterm and final exams.

The following system requirements are required for taking courses via the internet at Trident Technical College’s Division of Continuing Education:

- Pentium processor or MAC equivalent
- 128 MB of RAM minimum
- Win 95/98/2000/NT/XP or Macintosh Operating System
- CD-Rom drive
- 28.8 modem minimum or cable modem
- Telephone line or other service
- Internet Service Provider (ISP)
- Latest compatible version of Netscape 4.X or Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher browser (Discuss with ISP).
- Java and JavaScript must be in your browser of choice.
- Audio card
- Graphic Viewer Software
- Printer
- Microsoft Word (cannot be Wordperfect or any other word processing software)
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- NOTE: Microsoft WebTV® users may not be able to access certain features of an online course. WebTV® has NOT been tested extensively for compatibility with TTC online courses. It is not recommended for use with TTC online courses.
