Program Objectives

Radiographic Exposure

  1. Demonstrate an understanding for Radiographic Exposure.
  2. Explain how the x-ray beam is created.
  3. Understand the concepts of radiation protection and apply them to personnel and patients.
  4. Describe in detail how the radiographic image is created.
  5. Analyze the image from a radiographers perspective
  6. Describe the special imaging modalities.

Radiographic Positioning

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy and pathology.
  2. Explain the differences between view, position, and projection.
  3. Understand the terminology used for differing radiographic procedures, including body planes, habitus, positions, movement, and relative positions.
  4. Describe the best position for obtaining specific radiographic images.
  5. Analyze radiographic images.
  6. Discuss various ways to obtain the same image.
  7. Demonstrate proper positioning of the chest, abdomen, upper extremities, shoulder girdle, lower extremities, pelvic girdle, cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, sacrum, coccyx, bony thorax, and skull.
